What helps with these crazy menopause symptoms?
Perimenopause is a phase and you will get through it!

So much of what happens in our bodies directly reflects what we believe rather than something that just comes out of the blue. You might be thinking, "That's insane. I don't believe that I should be in pain!" Well, it's not just what we consciously believe that has this impact on us.

These beliefs also hide within our subconscious. They are often acquired at a very young age, and we aren't even aware they are there. Our subconscious minds take care of up to 90-95% of our experiences. Meanwhile, our conscious minds, what we think of as our thoughts, contribute only 5-10%.

This allows us great freedom because most of what we do is routine and habitual. We don't have to consciously think to make our hearts beat or command every muscle to fire when we pour a glass of water.

How does this affect something like the physical symptoms of perimenopause?

Growing up, we are fed media representations of menopause and secondhand stories about symptoms from family and friends. We pick up the understanding of how terrible hot flashes are or how distressing "the change" is, and all of these ideas go straight into our subconscious minds.

Everyone will interpret this stage of life differently. Maybe there is a sense of relief to it instead of dread. Hey, you can't get pregnant or don't have to worry about attracting a man now, sounds like a win when you say it like that!

A big one for me was worrying about weight. There were a lot of examples in my life of older women that carried too much extra weight. There was this floating belief that it was just part of being older. I remember being in my mid-20s, teaching a student in her 50's. She looked at me and scowled, "just wait until you're my age. The weight just doesn't come off like it used to. I work out, and nothing changes!".

And another friend, who is about seven years older, told me in my mid-40s (when I was at my lowest weight) to "just wait until I reached 50". I felt like I was being cursed.

Well, 50 was coming up fast, and guess what? Just like they said, I started to pack on the weight.

My mom had just passed away, Covid was keeping us quarantined, and that magical age was approaching. I got on the scale, and I was shocked! I had never been that heavy in my entire life!

Were they right? Was it hormonal? My gynecologist didn't have the answers but recommended hormonal pellets.

It was official - The curse was real.

Not only did I gain weight, but I also experienced hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, a change in my body odor, and strange pimples on my hips. I felt like a different person. Talk about invasion of the body snatchers. And hanging over me throughout the ordeal was the fear that I couldn't do anything about it. I'd just have to ride it out. How long would I have to put up with it? Weeks? Months? Years?!

Fortunately, I came upon Rapid Transformational Therapy, a wonderful hypnosis technique. The session takes you back to the cause, the root of the issue in your subconscious mind.

My therapist did an amazing job. She suggested to my mind that it could speed up the process and diminish the symptoms. Once we understand how and why we are doing what we are doing, we can let it go.

Do you know what? All of the symptoms slowly decreased and disappeared. I haven't had a hot flash in months (I was having around 4 per hour)! No more night sweats, weird hip bumps, or strange b.o.!

Because our subconscious minds are so powerful, we just have to tell them the right things and clear out the limiting beliefs that are holding us back.
