Why New Year’s resolutions don’t work.
How to change your thoughts and love your body -- before you actually fit back into your skinny jeans
I know we all want to love ourselves for who we are and what we stand for, no matter what!
We are intelligent, loving, resourceful, and resilient, No matter what the scale says! We are more than just a number; it shouldn't be about that, and it isn't. But why is it sooo hard to love and accept ourselves sometimes?
It feels like the chicken and the egg thing; I love myself, but I hate how my body feels (right now).
If I felt better in my body, I would love myself (more). This internal conflict keeps you stuck. It is one of the rules of the mind. Marisa Peer says, "The mind cannot hold conflicting ideas, beliefs, and thoughts about the same thing."
It’s like speeding with the brakes on. Or trying to drive in two lanes at once…you just can’t do it. When your mind comes across these conflicting thoughts or beliefs, they cancel each other out, or the one that carries more emotion will cancel out the one that seems more logical.
Let's look at an example:
Conflicting thought #1: “I’d like to lose 10 lbs. I can do it. I eat well. I’ll try to stop eating carbs.”
Sound familiar?
Conflicting thought #2: There is that sneaky internal voice saying, "It's hopeless, my body will never be the same again, the weight will never come off, I'm getting old, it's the hormones, I hate it!"
So, which one has more emotion? Which one sounds like it makes more sense? The first thought sounds logical. But that fear and emotion in the second one gives it more power. Changing habits with logic and the conscious mind alone is an uphill battle. That’s why New Year’s resolutions don’t work.
Using hypnotherapy, we find those conflicts and neutralize them, so you aren’t fighting against yourself. It is amazingly powerful to quiet those conflicting thoughts so you can finally reach your personal goals. (Yes, you really can! At any age!)
I see this conflict all the time with clients. They are intelligent and accomplished, accept their bodies, and love themselves. They know that it isn't about the perfect size or weight. They don't buy into idealized images in the media or dieting for diet's sake.
Yet, there is a fear that these changes are out of their control. It's just age, so how can we avoid that? They fear that they may end up like their mothers. They will never get back into their skinny jeans. They can forget all about tucking in their tops again. They fear their bodies have failed them. They simply want to be healthy (and fit into their skinny jeans, of course).
Is that too much to ask for?
The key to success lies in uncovering the internal conflict and over-riding it with positive thoughts. And, loving yourself through the process. Truly loving your body and yourself creates an ideal state to start dropping the extra weight. We all get negative thoughts, and the secret to losing weight with hypnotherapy is replacing those conflicting thoughts with loving ones. Have you picked up my free audio for loving your
